In This Issue This issue focuses on updates regarding the practice and other health & wellness opportunities. Typical educational topics will return in future issues. Prostate Screening There has been a recent change in guidelines now recommending against screening for prostate cancer. This has been a controversial topic for years; even with this recent change, there remains great conflict. In the past, I have done prostate cancer screening for men approximately aged 50-70. I will be reviewing the full report in great detail and decide if the data presented changes my views about screening. In the interim, I will continue to include screening during labs and exams unless you specifically request I withhold such testing. |
Office News Non-Covered Benefits Fee There will be no increases or changes in the Non-Covered Benefits fee for 2012. It will remain $300 per patient (or $30 per month). Formal invoices will be send around Thanksgiving. Please ensure your payment is received by January 1st. After that time, I will begin taking patients from my waiting list and will no longer be able to guarantee space in the practice for 2012. I appreciate the ongoing financial struggles that many of you and others in our country are undergoing. However, this fee remains integral to maintaining my practice and providing the access, continuity and unhurried, personalized care I provide. For more information on the fee and my practice philosophies, please see the FAQ on the website. Massage Available in the Office I'm pleased to announced that massage services are available in the office. My office colleague, Dr. David Amli, has partnered with two massage therapists that are now available for appointments. Please call 303-993-8444 to schedule an appointment. They require full payment at time of service; however I'm happy to provide an order for massage therapy if it will help you gain reimbursement from your insurance company. Visit Summaries As part of federal electronic health record guidelines, summaries of office visits are now available within 3 days of your appointment. These provide a brief overview of problems reviewed and plan of action taken. Please just let me know if you would like this summary. |

Education Update Evening Lecture Series – The next lecture is on November 2nd at 6:30pm and will be held in the Rose Hospital basement auditorium. The topic is Core Strengthening, including demonstrations of Pilates, home exercise and yoga. Click here for details and to RSVP. You can also find summaries and slides from past lectures and survey information to help improve future lectures. Vacation Update I will be out of the office for an extended vacation from Thursday November 10th through Sunday November 27th. I will be monitoring office issues only sporadically during that time. There will be other physicians available 24 hours daily for urgent questions. They will also be available for office visits if needed; urgent care can also be used if you need to be seen. Additionally, there will be someone monitoring all my email and voice mail messages daily and taking care of non-urgent issues. Please click here to see full details on the website.. |
Denver Center for Health and Sport Science I'm often asked questions about ideal weight, body composition and exercise performance. I'm happy to have partnered with the Denver Center for Health and Sport Science to help answer some of these questions. ”The Denver Center for Health and Sport Science offers the most extensive health, fitness, sports profile and exercise services available in the Rocky Mountain Region. Exercise and nutrition are keys to improving and sports performance – at the Denver Center for Health and Sports Science, we help you develop and then fine-tune a customized program for maximum results. Under the direction of Neil Wolkodoff, PhD, the center offers sophisticated assessments that combine your health, goals and interests into a simple to follow program.” I will have coupons for $75 towards any service at the center available for $60. One assessment, I find specifically beneficial that we can review at an annual is the body composition analysis. You can find out more information and purchase a coupon at the office or through my website at www.intmedcc.com/partners. There is a limit of one coupon per person. For more information about all the services the Denver Center for Health and Sports Science offers, please see their website (www.rosechss.com) or call (303) 320-2870. How's Your Health (and how can I make it better?) “How's Your Health” is an nationally recognized online health screening tool that puts the patient first. Rather than just using my EMR to regurgitate various numbers about chronic disease, this tool is patient-centered giving both you and me valuable information that can help us work better towards achieving your health and wellness goals. You will be seeing information about this tool on the scheduling page as well as on all appointment confirmations and reminders. I recommend everyone take the online assessment prior to your next annual exam or schedule a separate appointment to review any concerns that arise after it is completed. For more information, please see upcoming How's Your Health page on my website or for even more details, go to www.howsyourhealth.org. |
