Sports medicine programs vary with weight training, cardio as well as propreoceptive work. From weekend warriors to professional athlete’s injuries can occur and proper rehab is essential.
Athletes can experience many types of injuries and many times play while injured. We offer basic taping techniques, ice therapies and passive and active mobilization. The use of Chiropractic, Acupuncture and Physiotherapy can be very effective. Ice is of great benefits in almost any sports injury. The acronym RICE applies for acute musculoskeletal injuries. Rest/ Ice/ Compression (ace bandage) and Elevation.
We offer sports injury care, advise and whatever we can do to help you with your goal. Setting goals is often at the heart of Athletic competition. Even as we get older, taking a pledge to do one community event every year and participate as an athlete is a great thing to do. My background is diverse and I’ve had many professional athlete’s, college, high school, youth and your typical weekend warrior come to our office for advise and treatment for injuries. Recognizing your unique individuality and creating a differential diagnosis is first and foremost in being a good sports doctor.
In my twenty's I was certified in Emergency Medical Procedure from a Nursing School at Pasadena College, CA. This pre empted my work as a Physician and has allowed me to have a more complete background in Sports Medicine. Personally, I grew up as a top ten swimmer in the state of Ohio. I played a little football, did gymnastics, played water polo and swam in College. I became a snow ski tech for Salmon, Nordic and Kastle at nineteen and soon became an advanced skier. I have played competitive soccer and hockey, love snow boarding and skate skiing. I use to do Triathalons now I hike, bike ride the paths in the mountains, horse back ride, enjoy camping and just for those lazy days I fly fish. After Chiropractic College working with sports teams and athletes was a natural fit. I'm lucky enough to have a cousin "Todd Yoder"who just retired from the NFL with eleven years and a Super Bowl ring. I understand extreme athletics, sports injuries and different stages of the rehabilitation process.
In my first year of practice, a recently retired tackle for the San Diego Chargers Football team came into my office. Wow, what a wrath the game had taken on him. Later, I saw Jay Schroeder Superbowl quarterback with the LA Raiders NFL team and Robbie Nichols captain of the San Diego Gulls and captain of the IHL all-star hockey team. Soon I was working at the Bud Light water ski competitions and team doctor to the San Diego Old Aztecs rugby team. Competitive water skiers and ice skaters at Sea World, road bike criterium racers, super-cross motorcycle stars and then US ski team members were seeking my care. Olympic medalist, professional athletes, serious weekend warriors, what ever your activity we would love to help you with your goals. |
